The 4th Kalamata Dance Cup – Beyond Limits was also held with great success. With 1003 participants in a total of 244 dance categories judged by 40 International Judges per genre and 11 participating countries, Tenta was transformed for one weekend into a place of noble competition and a trigger for new presentations and victories. Participants ranged in age from 3 years and reached 65+ on the ‘Tenda’ competition floor in an atmosphere of glamor with high positive energy. Kalamata turned for another year into a ‘meeting center’ of the dance community that brought together all those involved in dance and offered a rich artistic spectacle of countless different dance performances in all genres!
The city of Kalamata had the pleasure of hosting dancers from all over, renowned International Dance Judges, the new worthy Organizing Committee as well as famous personalities from the dance community, professional talented choreographers in modern dance as well as in Latin, stars of the television show biz, dance champions and top dancing couples and groups, from various parts of Greece and abroad in a quality event, innovative and pioneering, that left the best impressions on the visitors by promoting our city and Prefecture at a national and international level. The festival was once again broadcast live and reached many countries abroad, with high viewership and multiple interactions.
The Red Cross of Kalamata and the Hellenic Voluntary Rescue Team of the Messinia branch, the company Target Security, as well as the Traffic Department of the Messinia Police Department, as well as all the other worthy volunteers, throughout the race ensured its smooth running.
The first day of the competition was dedicated to Latin and Ballroom dances, while the second day was to modern dance and all street styles. The categories included solo performances, duets, trios and groups by age. The professional dance champions who for the second time made their presence in our city, here as part of the 4th Kalamata Dance Cup 2022, also had their place in the program. The dancers of Kalamata from the artistic dance schools of our city also had a dynamic presence. who all swept the cups and medals in various dance categories. Congratulations were received for the high level of the dance athletes of Kalamata who deservedly competed with athletes from other cities and dances, winning distinctions and firsts, but also the cultural work of the dance instructors of Kalamata, which stands out for its high artistic quality, strengthening the characterization that is dedicated to the city of Kalamata as ‘City of Dance’.

The cultural program of the 4KDC2022 Festival at the Gala was also highly impressive. Great applause was received by the acclaimed artists Dancers With Disabilities of Dagipoli Dance & Co who opened the curtain at the Gala Opening Ceremony and enchanted the audience with the dance drama Exodus Plus, a confrontational game that forced the viewer to leave the comfortable position of passive observer, to test his limits and endurance and fight with his stereotypes and demons. Dance as an expression, Art and sport is for all members of our society and the Association-organizer of the Dance Challenge organization with the support of ‘PolisArt’ Coun.S.Ep Kalamata, aims at its wider dissemination. Spectacular performances of Art and Culture were given at the Gala by some of the dance schools of our city that participated in the Festival, with dance shows inspired by current social issues that conveyed for another year, through the art of dance, messages of peace and optimism, while the welcome of our professional athletes and the invited International Judges and actors of the festival was honored by the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Municipality of Kalamata in a very impressive way and the Mayor of our city Mr. Athanasios Vassilopoulos, clearly excited. The seminars within the framework of the KDC, for this year, were held with great success in Athens the day after the competition, by renowned dance professionals, in the Lyrical Contemporary section, offering knowledge to contemporary dance lovers.
The enjoyment of the people, the incredible positive energy of the participants and the satisfaction of the spectators was seen shortly before the end of the festival on Sunday, when on the dance floor of ‘Tenda’ ended a celebration of dance and celebration by countless dancers not wanting to leave Kalamata. The positive response and the huge increase in participants, and accompanying spectators who are lovers of art, culture and sports, prove the importance of the event, which with strong elements of extroversion promotes the touristic and cultural product of Messinia and promotes dance sports as a form of alternative tourism in our country. With the auspices and support of the Ministry of Culture & Sports, the Ministry of Tourism and the Hellenic Tourism Organization (HTO), the Municipality of Kalamata and the Chamber of Messinia as well as the donation of the Captain Vassilis & Carmen Konstantakopoulos Foundation, the organization of the International Cup dance festival ‘Kalamata Dance Cup’ is unique for the Peloponnese, as it stands out for its high artistic quality and the multiple social messages it sends through the art of dance.
The Cultural Association of Kalamata Dance Challenge and its members are proud to have succeeded for another year in offering a fantastic dance festival with high-standard dance competitions as well as art & culture performances, which contributes to the spread, development and upgrading of dance in our country, hoping that in the coming years the International Kalamata Dance Cup will grow even more and manage to meet its ever-increasing demands.
