Live the experience of an unforgettable Dance Festival
The Kalamata Dance Cup is an International non-commercial Dance Festival of Dance Competition & Training Camp which aims to offer an open space to young artists to present and promote their work.
The Kalamata Dance Cup began in October 2018 in ‘Tenta’ Municipal Sportshall, in collaboration with the Peloponnese Region and the support of the Municipality of Kalamata and the Messinian Chamber. It was then expanded under the auspices and funding of the Ministry of Culture & Sports, the Ministry of Tourism and Greek National Tourism Organization.
Our motivation to initiate it, was the passion to make a difference and to create something new in the Peloponnese Region, to strengthen the International characterization given to the city of Kalamata as a cultural “City of Dance”. To create a Dance Festival combining Art – Culture & Sports, Competition & Gala which we will all enjoy, on the framework of the “Thematic Tourism’.
The Kalamata Dance Cup is a broader co-organization of local & governmental Organizations with the coordination of the Cultural & Dance Association ‘Dance Challenge’ (dancechallenge.gr) & ‘PolisArt’ Social Company. It is under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture and Sports, the Ministry of Tourism and the Greek Tourism Organisation (visitgreece.gr).
It is an important Culture & DanceSport Event (with Competition in all styles of Dance and social & historical dance performances) for dancers of all ages to boost their creativity by showcasing their performances and by competing with noble rivalry. It is establishing new partnerships between Organisations and Artists. It treats every participant equally and promotes the cultural creation.
KDC Dance Competition is open to the world. No matter if you are part of any Organization, you are free to participate to show off your performance in the ‘City of Dance’. In Kalamata Dance Cup can participate any dancer of all ages, all categories, in couples, solo, duos, teams, Amateurs or Professionals.
ART DOES NOT DISCRIMINATE
In addition to the competition, the two-day Festival Event – Beyond The Limits -, also includes a) Training Camp (workshops & masterclasses), b) a unique Ceremony Night (Gala), c) many more activities, such as guided tours etc.
It welcomes the best dancers (amateurs & professionals) from all over the world , Renowned Adjudicators, Famous Guests of the Dance Community, in a Perfect Atmosphere and the best parquet floor….only with good vibes!!!

Προωθεί και προβάλλει στο μέγιστο το πολιτιστικό και τουριστικό προϊόν του Πελοποννησιακού τόπου εγχώρια και διεθνώς και ενισχύει την τοπική αγορά σε περίοδο χαμηλής τουριστικής σεζόν. Η δράση προβάλλεται κάθε χρόνο από το www.visitgreece.gr του ΕΟΤ και από όλα τα τοπικά, περιφερειακά και ορισμένα αθηναϊκά ΜΜΕ.
With strong elements of creativity, innovation and extroversion, the Kalamata Dance Cup contributes to the development and upgrading of the Art of Dance, to the spread of DanceSport in Greece, to the cultivation of the sporting ideal and noble rivalry. It promotes to the maximum the cultural and tourist product of the Peloponnese region in and out of country and strengthens the local market in a period of very low tourist season. The KDC Dance Festival is promoted every year by www.visitgreece.gr of the Greek National Tourosm Organization and by all local & regional Media Communication, also from Athens.
The creator, organizer and artistic director of Kalamata Dance Cup, Ms. Nina Drakou, with hard work and perseverance, through her networking with the national and international dance community, her collaborations based on relationships of trust, as well as her experience in Perfect cultural events, in a collective spirit with the members of the Association, the support of the Public Benefit Enterprise PolisArt Kalamata, but also with the dance organizations of our city, manages every year to raise the bar of the event higher and higher.
