The 2nd International DanceSport Competition was held with great success on Saturday, November 30, 2019 in Kalamata, the 2nd Kalamata Dance Cup – Beyond The Limits.
With more of 1000 participants, the dance floor of ‘Tenta’ from 8 o’clock in the morning was flooded with people, in an atmospheric environment with quality music and very positive energy, Kalamata was transformed for another a year in a meeting center of the dance community and offered a rich artistic spectacle of 1400 different dance performances in all genres!
The city of Kalamata had the pleasure to host 34 renowned Local and International dance judges as well as celebrities from the DanceSport community, dance champions and top dance couples and groups from all over of Greece and Abroad. All these amateurs and professionals artists competed with noble rivalry at a professional level and unfolded their talent in front of the art-loving public of Kalamata, in a hight artistic event, innovative and pioneering, which left the best impressions on the visitors, promoting our city and prefecture.
The Greek Voluntary Rescue Team as well as the Traffic Police Department of Messinia throughout the race ensured the smooth conduct of the race. The dancers of the Spastic Protection Company ‘Open Door’ received great applause that moved the audience. From the magical spectacle of the competitive Gala Ceremony that followed, professional dance dancers, couples from Italy and Greece were distinguished: 1st place Imparato Roberto – Alessia Lepre (Italy), 2nd place: Ioannou Andreas – Martha Birli (Greece), 3rd Place: Maxim Stadnik – Athena Paleologos where the Kalamata Cup was awarded. The response of the people, the positive energy, but also the huge increase of the participants, and the escorts-spectators who are lovers of art, culture and sports prove the importance of the event, which with strong elements of extroversion promotes the tourist and cultural product of Messinia.
A pleasant surprise of the event was the holding of lectures – seminars at the Gallery of the People’s Library the next day, where the participation in all types of dance was particularly high, which proves that year by year the Kalamata Dance Cup & Training Camp conquers more in sports tourism.
With the auspices and kind support of the Ministry of Tourism and Greek Tourism Organization, but also the support of the Municipality of Kalamata and the Chamber of Messinia and of course the big sponsors (Elysian Hotel, Agrovim, The Shoe Mart, Alpha System Gouzos, Belvedere Hotel and .a.), the organization of the International Dance Cup ‘Kalamata Dance Cup’ is unique for the Peloponnese, as it is distinguished for its high artistic quality and the multiple social messages it emits and turns in every direction. Dance as an expression, Art and sport is for all members of our society and the Association-organization of Dance Challenge with the support of ‘PolisArt’ Social Benefit Company, aims at its wider dissemination.
The International Dance Competition as an institution in Kalamata, every year gives the opportunity of a pleasant meeting of dancers to get in touch with the latest trends in the field, to acquire know-how from specialized dance teachers, to experiment in new types of dance, and unfold their talent to the general public. At the same time, it offers to all the citizens of our city and the art-loving visitors, an exceptional artistic spectacle with intense emotions from top of the genre, professionals and amateurs, who travel to the city of Kalamata for this purpose.
