It is under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism and the Chamber of Messinia. In particular, for the year 2021 we want to refer to the decisive contribution of the Municipality of Kalamata and the Mayor of our city mr Panagiotis Vasilopoulos.
We are one month before the big event and the preparations culminate with the Organizing Committee facing all the difficulties that have been created during this long period in the field of art, sports, but also organization. We dare, therefore, to dynamically bring back to our city the 3rd International Kalamata Dance Challenge taking all the protection measures for its safe conduct, offering for another year a challenge and innovation in the Peloponnese Area
This Festival, promoting the recognition of the necessity of DanceSport in Greece, but also its real support from the governement, is expected to attract for another year hundreds of dancers – athletes from all over Greece and abroad. With “bodies present” in Kalamata, to give messages, to coexist, to travel the public and to communicate with it in their own language, the body. To compete with noble rivalry, in an institution of real interest, which combines art, sports and tourism in the context of alternative (cultural – sports) tourism.
At the same time, all participants and audience will have the opportunity to enjoy an amazing dance weekend getaway in the Messinian capital, just 2.5 hours from Athens.

The specialized seminars and workshops for students and professional dancers and pupils, will take place on Sunday 14/11/2021 at the Cultural Center of Kalamata and will be held in parallel with the competition.

Just one month after the start of the event, the Head of the Organizing Committee of the Kalamata Dance Cup Lamprini (Nina) Drakou, stressed:
“The Open International Dance Competition in all types of dance for all ages, is now established as one of the most successful cultural – sporting events of the Peloponnese, of international prestige and importance. Its purpose is the preservation and viability of the institution for the coming years, with continuous improvements, in order to lay the foundations for a “Model Dance Festival” of high standards that will satisfy the fans of the dance community, since Kalamata has already become a Meeting Center of the dance community.
Attracting visitors of the sports dance community internationally in the framework of the International Dance Competition in Kalamata is now an event to stimulate our cultural and tourist product, in a period outside the tourist peak, especially this difficult period that will significantly enhance the economic life of our place ».
