Dance Challenge Kalamata

Thousands of dancers from Greece and abroad danced safely in the 3rd International Kalamata dance Cup 2021 and enlivened the city of Kalamata.

A colorful sea of ​​dancers of all ages flooded the municipal stadium ‘Tenta’ on the weekend of November 13 & 14, 2021, who took part in the largest dance festival of dance competitions in Southern Greece, the International Dance Cup “Kalamata Dance Cup 2021 – Beym Limits “which took place for the third year, after a year of absence in the beautiful city of Kalamata, strictly observing all measures of protection against the pandemic, in accordance with current ministerial provisions, for the safe conduct of live indoor shows.

The 3rd International Festival of Sports Dance Competitions attracted – despite the difficult conditions due to covid – three times the number of participants compared to 2019, with over 1600 participants and 50% of the capacity of the Tent, to attendants and spectators, according to positions from viva .gr, where it was sold out several days before the event.

The three-day world-class KDC event was held with the support of the Municipality of Kalamata, but also of the Mayor of the city Mr. Athanasios Vassilopoulos, in collaboration with the Athletic Agency of the Municipality, under the auspices and support of the Hellenic Tourism Organization, the Ministry of Tourism and courtesy of local products of the Chamber of Messinia.

The organizer of the Cultural Association of Kalamata ‘Dance Challenge’ hosted in the city Domestic and International dance judges, celebrities from the sports dance community, as well as special invited groups of dancers from sports and social organizations for the disabled. In an atmosphere of noble rivalry, they unfolded their talent to the art-loving public, in a quality organization of extroversion, a special multi-themed dance festival, which once again left the best impressions on the visitors, promoting Kalamata and Messinia nationally and internationally. The competition was broadcast live on Streaming with a special correspondent (broadcast) that kept the interest of the public alive, from Greece, recording 12,500 views worldwide until the end.

A multinational visit took place on Sunday at the Kalamata Dance Cup as representatives of organizations from different countries of the #European #Union participating in two different programs, one entitled “Promoting a Policy of European Solidarity” and the other “Increasing European education through sport” they came and honored us with their presence.
The countries that visited us were Serbia, Italy, Finland, Hungary, Cyprus, Portugal and Spain.
The visitors had the pleasure to attend the special tribute of the anniversary of Greece 200 years since the Revolution of 1821 and to admire Greek group performances entitled “War” & ‘Freedom’ All Star Dance School of Dance & Greek-English Education-AS Protoporia ASE Douka – AC Doukas
In these two programs the representation of Greece is done by bodies of our region, the Balkan Institute of Entrepreneurship and the Association of Dance and Instrument Ή Joy of the Child Association of Dance and Instrument
The countries that visited us were Serbia, Italy, Finland, Hungary, Cyprus, Portugal and Spain.

The Traffic Department of the Messinia Police, as well as the Greek Rescue Team (Messinia branch) as well as the company Target Security, and throughout the two-day event ensured its smooth and safe conduct.

The magical spectacle of Saturday Gala was greeted by the Mayor of Kalamata Mr. Athanasios Vassilopoulos, while the Organizing Committee of KDC presented in a special way the athletes-dancers and judges of the professional part. From the amazing spectacle of the professional dancers of the competitive dance that followed, SILVIO ANSELMI & ELEONORA RICCARDI from Italy won the 1st place as Champions of the 3rd Kalamata Dance Cup 2021 while in the lower category once again champions were the same as in 2019 Roberto Imparato & Alessia Lepre from Italy. Kalamata and Messinia also won several awards in various dance categories. The 1st place in the Kalamata Dance Cup was won by Kalamata: 1. Athlos Kalamata in Aerial Acrobatics, 2. Dance Studio Maria Lada Kalamata in the modern and ballet category, 3. Fame Dance Academy of Kalamata in the Latin and street style, 4. The Kalamata Athletic Dance Association ‘Xenia’ in the closed categories of Latin juniors and 5. The dance Club of Kalamata in the European dances Senior, 6. Dance Koroni. The dancers with disabilities also received a round of applause from five different organizations that shocked the audience with their artistic creations at the Gala performances of the Festival.

The response of the audience, the positive energy, but also the huge increase of the participants, and the escorts-spectators who are lovers of art, culture and sports prove the importance of the dance festival, which with strong elements of extroversion highlights the tourist and cultural product of Messinia. Every year, the bar of this world dance festival rises higher and higher, managing to conquer a large part of the alternative tourism (cultural – sports) in the Prefecture of Messinia.

This event is unique for the Peloponnese, as it is distinguished for its high artistic quality and the multiple social messages it emits. Dance as an expression, Art and sport is for all members of our society and the Association-organizing body ‘Dance Challenge’ aims at its wider dissemination, always with the support of ‘PolisArt’ Koin.S.Ep Kalamata and the support and assistance to public and private entities and companies.

Kalamata, as a meeting center of the dance community, in view of this International Festival that has now become an institution, promotes synergies and collaborations between all cultural institutions. At the same time it gives the opportunity to thousands of artist dancers to unfold their talent to the general public. As a multifaceted event, the International KDC offers unique and innovative spectacles and performances to all the citizens of the city and the art-loving visitors and is an exceptional artistic spectacle.
